Configuring Auto-Assignment

How to set up rules that automatically assign new contacts to sales reps, and how to configure default weighted distribution.

Auto-assignment routes new contacts to sales reps automatically based on rules you define. When a new contact enters the system, Firehose evaluates the rules in order and assigns the contact to the first matching rule's salesperson.

Assignment rules

Rules evaluate conditions against the contact's company (size, industry, location, etc.). You can create as many rules as needed and reorder them by priority.

Creating a rule

  1. Go to Auto-Assignment in the sidebar

  2. Click New Rule

  3. Define the conditions (e.g., company size is 500+ employees)

  4. Select which salesperson(s) to assign to, with percentage weights if multiple reps share a rule

  5. Save

Default assignment

When no rule matches, contacts are assigned using the default distribution. You can add multiple reps to the default pool with weighted percentages that must total 100%.

Rule priority

Rules are evaluated top-to-bottom. The first matching rule wins. Use the up/down arrows on the Auto-Assignment page to reorder rules.

Bulk reassign

If you update your rules and want to apply them retroactively to existing contacts, use Bulk Reassign. You can preview which contacts will be reassigned and to whom before confirming.
