This guide walks through your first session in Firehose, whatever seat you're in — the admin standing up a brand-new workspace, or a rep joining one someone else already set up. Each step below links to a full article if you want more detail than what's here.

Before you start

Figure out which of these is you:

  • Creating a brand-new Firehose workspace for your company — start with Setting up a new workspace below.

  • Joining a workspace an admin already created — skip to Your first session — Sales or Your first session — Implementation, whichever matches your role.

Setting up a new workspace (Admins)

🔒 Who can do this: whoever signs up becomes the first Admin. Everything in this section is Admin work.

  1. Complete the five-step signup wizard — your contact info, company details, profile, plan and payment, and a one-time email verification code. See Signing Up for exactly what's asked at each step.

  2. Right after signup, complete the workspace setup wizard: confirm your company details on Company, create your first team on Teams, and optionally fill in Competitors, Titles, Segments, and Socials. Full detail in Setting Up Your Workspace.

  3. Invite your team from Team → Invite Member, entering each person's email and role. See Inviting Your Team for the full list of roles and what each one can access.

  4. Verify your email sending domain from Company Settings → Mail Domain before anyone runs a drip campaign.

  5. Set up anything else your team needs before go-live: custom activity types, auto-assignment rules for new companies, and your sales or implementation pipeline stages — all under their respective sections in the left sidebar.

  6. Connect your own inbox and calendar (see Connect your email and calendar below) so you're working from a fully set-up account, not just administering everyone else's.

💡 Note: none of the optional setup-wizard steps (Competitors, Titles, Segments, Socials) block you from using Firehose — skip them and fill them in later if you'd rather get the team in first.

Your first session — Sales

  1. Accept your invite email and finish the short onboarding flow to set up your profile.

  2. Connect your Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 account from Inbox, Calendar, or Settings → Integrations — this is what brings your email and meetings into Firehose. See Connect your email and calendar below.

  3. Take a lap around the sidebar: Home for your dashboard, Inbox for email, Chat for the AI assistant, and Sales for Discover, your deal board, Companies, Contacts, and Reports. Full map in Navigating Firehose.

  4. Open Deals to see your pipeline board and get familiar with your stages. Details in The Deal Pipeline.

  5. Log your first activity: open any contact, company, or deal, click Log Activity, pick a type, and save. See Logging Activities for the full list of activity types.

Your first session — Implementation

  1. Accept your invite email and finish the short onboarding flow to set up your profile.

  2. Connect your Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 account — see Connect your email and calendar below.

  3. Open Deals in the sidebar — if you're on an implementation team, you'll land on the implementation board automatically. It moves customers through Signed → Contacted → Trained → Onboarded → Live by default (your admin may have customized these). See The Implementation Pipeline.

  4. Open a customer's deal card, log an activity against it, and create a todo for your next outstanding task. See Managing Onboarding Deals.

Connect your email and calendar

Do this in your first session regardless of role — most of Firehose is more useful once it's done. From Inbox, Calendar, or Settings → Integrations, click Connect (or Grant Access) and authorize your Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 account. Both your inbox and calendar are granted in that single step. Full walkthrough in Connecting Your Google or Microsoft Account, and calendar-specific detail in Your Calendar.

💡 Note: you'll see a "Syncing…" indicator right after connecting — that's normal and usually clears within a minute. Google Calendar access also depends on your workspace's configuration; if your calendar doesn't show up after connecting, check with your admin.

Get oriented

Once the basics are connected, two articles are worth reading end to end when you have a few minutes: What is Firehose AI? for the full feature list and who uses what, and Navigating Firehose for a complete map of the sidebar, including what's role-restricted.
